Question.... >  I just pulled my Dual Port heads off my 71 Bug and tried to remove the valves. They would not pull through the valve guides do to burs around the valve keeper area. I know the stainless steel valves are soft but the ends were the adjuster sits were all ok. Did the builder just use some really cheap valves and what brand would you recommend so this doesn't happen again.  Dave

Answer.... > You don't need better valves, you need a better engine builder. The valve keepers were loose on the valves. When valve keepers are installed on the valves, the two half's of the keepers must not touch. The inside of the keepers must clamp tight on the valve and the outside must fit the valve retainer are you are asking for trouble. When the two keepers touch before clamping tight on the valve stem, they slide back and forth on the stem and beat out the keeper groves.   Vic
