Question---> Does any one know of an easy way to remove my rear axle nut from my 68 bug. I know they make a tool called a "Wheel Knocker" or "Nut Whacker" but I don't want to wait a week to have one shipped in to remove the nut. I know I can cut it off with a hack saw or torch but that would leave me without a nut next week.

Answer---> We normally tell our customers to drive down to the nearest Truck Stop or Tire Store and ask them to remove it with there impact wrench. Then put the nut back on so you can remove it later. Better yet back off the nut 1/2 turn and install the cotter key. This will let the brake drum loosen up on axel so it can easily be removed.  Just don't leave it loose after the brake drum loosens up.

Another way is to take a sharp cold chisel and  cut a small "V" in the nut parallel to the axle. This will spread the nut slightly and expand the nut diameter so it can be removed easer.  Vic
